It's an Old-Fashioned -- but that doesn't mean it's out of style.

Sean McElroy is facing a mob of women. The Moolah Lounge bartender is mixing Sex and the City-themed drinks for a crowd of moviegoers requesting a barrage of Mirandas and Carrie Bradshaws. Someone expresses sadness for the plight of the Charlotte, a Hendrick's gin-based drink. "Oh, we've sold maybe one of those since the movie started playing here," says McElroy.

On this night, the pink drinks rule.

Notwithstanding the trendiness of the evening's Cosmo variants, McElroy has an affinity for the classic cocktail, the "really bourbony, rocks, old-man drinks," as he describes them. And yes, he will be employing a muddler for his Old-Fashioned, pounding together a sugar cube with an orange slice and maraschino cherries and finishing off with a fine bourbon and a splash of seltzer.
