Party with Tattooed Restaurant Folks & RFT at Pi! Benefit the St. Louis Area Food Bank!

Gut Check and Riverfront Times invites all St. Louis-area restaurant workers -- especially the tattooed ones -- to join us on July 12 for a Kitchen Ink party at Pi pizzeria's Delmar Loop location. The party, scheduled on a Monday so restaurant folk will be able to attend, coincides with the opening of an exhibition of photos at Pi by longtime RFT photographer Jennifer Silverberg. Suggested cover charge is $2, all of which will be donated to the St. Louis Area Food Bank.

Jennifer Silverberg will be on hand from 9 p.m. till 1 a.m. with her camera and a studio setup that will allow her to photograph guests' body art generate prints on the spot. (Those prints will be available for sale, as will all the photos in the exhibition; a portion of the proceeds will go to the food bank.)

A word or two about how this came about...

After we published Jenn Silverberg's "Kitchen Ink" photoessay in April, readers called to tell us how much they liked it. (Usually when readers call, it's not to tell us how much they like something.)

One of the calls was from our Loop neighbors at Pi Pizzeria. Pi partners Chris Sommers and Frank Uible were so taken by the piece -- the fact that the fella pictured on the cover is Pi's own Mathew Rice probably didn't hurt -- that they wondered whether Silverberg might be interested in exhibiting her photos on Pi's walls.

And maybe a party to celebrate the occasion?
