Gourmet Returns, Slightly Modified.
Gourmet's back from the dead. Sort of. The New York Times reports that the stalwart will return to newsstands with three ad-free special editions that recycle recipes from old issues. The first, featuring quick recipes, will be available on September 7, eleven months after the magazine's surprise closing. 
Ad Age says we're becoming recall weary. They're not sure if 2010 has had more recalls than before, or if it just feels like it because companies are becoming faster at making voluntarily recalls for things like cereal having an "off flavor". Concerns are mounting that so many recalls will lead to people ignoring them.
Funeral food has been around longer than we ever imagined. Reuters reports that archeologists in Israel have excavated a burial site that included remains of cooked tortoises and ancient cattle. Anthropologist Natalie Munro said, "We believe that feasts, especially in funerary contexts, served to integrate communities by providing this sense of community."
Quality control at a Connecticut Wendy's restaurant got out of hand when one employee threatened another with a knife for using bacon that had been dropped on the floor. According to the Hartford Courant, "The word 'snitch' was thrown around," when Derron Cooke admonished his co-worker for using the soiled pork. The knifee claims the fight wasn't about bacon, but about Cooke criticizing his chicken prep techniques.
