Gyro House Closed for Relocation

The new home of the Gyro House
Gyro House has closed its location at 571 Melville Avenue in University City. Though the sign in the restaurant's window says it is closed for renovations, it is actually moving -- though not far. The new Gyro House is located on the east half of the Delmar Loop at 6152 Delmar Boulevard. The space was formerly home to the Culture Cafe.

According to the sign at the Melville location, Gyro House will reopen on Friday, September 10.

Police continue to search for a suspect in the June murder of Gyro House owner Ahmed Eltawmi. View the computer-generated composite sketch of the suspect.

While it is true that you will no longer find Gyro House at 571 Melville, you can head down to 6152 Delmar across from the Pageant and get the same gyro that I have made since I learned from Ahmed nearly 20 years ago. Look for me on Saturdays

I hope they get the new location up and running soon. I wanted one of their jumbo gyros last night as the blog had said they planned to be open by sept. 10. The sign at the new location just says coming soon. Please, I need my gyros fix.
