Walmart Sandwiches Recalled

Deli meat used in Walmart sandwiches recalled for possible listeria contamination. Food Safety News reports that Zemco from Buffalo, New York, has recalled over 380,000 pounds of meat. None of the meat was sold as retail product; it was all used for Walmart's Marketside Grab and Go Sandwiches.

Parts of Missouri and Illinois have been declared agriculture disaster areas. According to KWMU last spring's flooding caused catastrophic damage to farms in 55 Missouri counties and 11 in Illinois. Farmers who lost at least 30 percent of their crops or livestock to flood waters between February and July are eligible for federal relief funds.

Chain restaurants jump on the fantasy football bandwagon. Nation's Restaurant News said that Papa John's Pizza wants people to tell them why their fantasy league's the best for a chance to win a trip to the 2011 NFL Draft. Buffalo Wild Wings, Hooters, and T.G.I. Friday's also have game gimmicks.

The Wall Street Journal says we like it messy. They take a look at how food styling in advertising has changed over the past 25 years. Currently, consumers respond to photos with crumbs, scattered herbs, and half-eaten food. They credit the rough-around-the-edges look to the local and artisan food movements.
