Drink Lab Debuts Tonight at the Atomic Cowboy

Drink Lab, a new themed cocktail night organized by Chad Michael George and Matt Obermark, debuts at 6 p.m. this evening at Atomic Cowboy (4140 Manchester Avenue, 314-775-0775).
Drink Lab, George says, is "an occasional themed classic-cocktail night [meant] to raise the awareness of the St. Louis cocktail scene and the great bartenders behind it."
George and Obermark worked together behind the bar at Eclipse and the Central West End location of Pi. Obermark now works at Atomic Cowboy, while George runs the mixology website Proof Academy and tends bar at Sasha's on Shaw.
Drink Lab kicks off with a tribute to the tiki bar, with Adam Frager (most recently of Cielo) joining George and Obermark. Future nights will honor cocktails on both the high (the classic Savoy Cocktail Book) and the low (horrible college drinks like the Red-Headed Slut, reimagined) end of the spectrum.

Explains George, who spent yesterday evening coring 50 pineapples for tiki drinks, "The topics really come from wanting the majority of the nights focused on the history of the cocktail, but also [wanting] to give us a chance to come up with new cocktails."
