Hershey's Closes Original Factory

Due to increased globalization, NPR reports that Hershey's is closing its original Pennsylvania factory. The company is opening a new, faster, smaller factory down the street, and laying off 500 employees. The original factory, which was a part of Milton Hershey's "workers paradise" with inexpensive housing, community centers, and amusements parks now caters to tourists.

Last year's canned pumpkin shortage might continue into the holidays. The Akron Beacon-Journal reports that Libby's, the top producer of canned pumpkin, is still recovering from heavy rains that decimated their 2009 crop in Morton, Illinois. While this year's crop is fine, the company's still playing catch-up. Might be a good time to learn to make pumpkin pie from scratch.

New Twitter-inspired cookbook features recipes in 140 characters or less, says New York Daily News.

Forget dressing up as a burrito to get a free burrito this Halloween. A press release from BusinessWire announced a collaboration with Chipotle and Jamie Oliver. This year, dress as junk food and get a $2 burrito or salad. The "Boorito 2010: The Horrors of Processed Food" program aims to donate $1 million to Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution.
