Food writer Mark Bittman will appear at St. Louis County Library Headquarters (1640 South Lindbergh Boulevard) tonight at 7 p.m. Bittman writes "The Minimalist" column for the New York Times and has published such acclaimed cookbooks as How to Cook Everything, How to Cook Everything Vegetarian and The Best Recipes in the World.

Bittman's last book was Food Matters: A Guide to Conscious Eating, and he appears tonight is in support of the follow-up, The Food Matters Cookbook: 500 Recipes for Conscious Eating.

The event, which will feature an on-stage interview by Charlie Brennan of KMOX, is free.

We can't promise that it will be as hilarious as Anthony Bourdain's appearance at the Fox Theatre last week, but it should be interesting.
