Duncan Hines Pulls Questionable Rapping Cupcakes Ad

Thanks to a piece in Mother Jones, "Are These Cupcakes Racist?", Duncan Hines has pulled a YouTube video featuring chocolate-glazed anamorphic rapping cupcakes. Apparently, people think that white cupcakes burstingt into hip-hop beats once they're coated in chocolate might perhaps be a bit questionable.

Go ahead and think about the chocolate-glazed rapping cupcakes. The more you think about food, the less of them you 'll eat, according to the New York Post. They cite a study from Carnagie Mellon University that says, "Engaging in the mental act of eating can reduce the type of food we're interested in eating."

An historic grocery chain is in jeopardy. The New York Daily News reports that New Jersey-based A&P is facing bankruptcy. The company, formed in 1838, once owned over 16,000 stores. Even though they now operate as A&P, Food Emporium, and Pathmark Stores, the company is down to 400 stores and mounting debt. They blame it on the competition from Walmart and Target.

The little guy strikes a trademark blow against a giant. Times of India reports that Lanka Spice Limited, a Sri Lankan company that uses the trade name "Mc Curry", beat McDonalds in a trademark lawsuit. McDonalds sued, even though the spice company existed long before the burger company came to Sri Lanka, and despite the fact that the "Mc" actually stands for "Markumbura Condiments". The company's factory is located in a village called Markumbura.
