Food Safety Bill Passes Senate. Again.

In the holiday miracles department, the Senate passed the food safety bill on Sunday night. ABC News reports that the bill, which had passed but was recalled because of technical flaw, is on its way to the House. They've got the abbreviated history of the bill.

An Albany, New York, bar owner was found not guilty for hiring a professional MMA fighter beat up a food blogger. The Times Union has the story of Timothy Raskin's trial, prompted by the 2008 beating of Times Union writer Steve Barnes, who had given Raskin's establishment some negative press. He and a dining partner were attacked by two brothers who claimed the beat-down would lead to free drinks from Raskin. The prosecution was unable to prove that Raskins had made a deal with the street fighters.

Breasts are good for feeding babies, but maybe not so great when they're involved in feeding bigger kids. According to the San Francisco Gate, the National Organization of Women filed a complaint against the city's Hooters franchises for catering to children by having kids menus, booster seats, and kid-sized t-shirts that read, "Future Hooters Girl". Several California cities, including San Francisco, classify Hooters as adult entertainment venues prohibited from serving minors.
