More Than 3,000 Pounds of Ground Beef Recalled

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued yet another ground-beef recall. This time it's American Food Service, headquartered in Pico Rivera, just outside of LA. According to a CNN report, the recall involves more than 3,000 pounds of ground beef produced on January 31 and sold to restaurants, which may be contaminated with E. coli. To date no illnesses have been reported.

So, Gut Check inquires rhetorically, exactly how big is 3,000 pounds of ground beef?

Glad you we asked!

Turns out 3,000 pounds of ground beef is about the same size as...Cletus.

The Missoulian
3,000 pounds of beef, a.k.a. Cletus.

That's Cletus on the left. And middle. He sold at auction last April for $1,600 -- a bargain compared to his recalled processed counterparts.
