A few news items from around town...
- Sauce was first to note that
Salume Beddu (3467 Hampton Avenue; 314-353-3100) is now serving lunch. The menu includes plates with the artisan salumeria's cured meats paired with cheese as well as roast pork belly plate and a salsiccia sandwich. Salume Beddu is open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

Matt McGuire, the owner of the shuttered King Louie's, has left his position as general manager of
Monarch to become the general manager of
Brasserie by Niche (4580 Laclede Avenue; 314-454-0600),
reports Deb Peterson of the
Post-Dispatch.
- A San Antonio, Texas, restaurant called
Mad Dogs British Pub has announced plans to introduce franchises in multiple states, including Missouri. Current plans call for locations in St. Louis, Arnold and Chesterfield. The Mad Dogs website suggests that this is a pub in the same way that, say, the
Tilted Kilt is, with female servers in kilts -- at least there's a picture of such a server in the online menu -- and pub grub ranging from fish and chips to nachos and spinach-artichoke dip.
