Half & Half
, a new breakfast and lunch spot from The Good Pie

, opened this morning at 8135 Maryland Avenue in Clayton. The restaurant held a friends-and-family soft opening this weekend, and a Gut Check operative passed along a copy of the menu.
The menu is difficult to encapsulate, both upscale and rustic. You can order sunny-side-up eggs paired with balsamic-vinegar-braised pork belly; you can order fried chicken livers. Sandwiches include a burger (of course), seared tuna with a harissa aioli and a salmon BLT. Brunch tasting menus are available, and the coffee menu includes the sort of flavor profiles more commonly associated with wine.
In other words, this is breakfast (and lunch) as serious business, though not without a sense of humor: The menu describes its fresh fruit salad as, simply, "No melons."
