Strawberry sorbet and the coolest food truck in St. Louis

The Fire and Ice Cream Truck beat the food truck trend by a few years, quietly selling locally made ice cream from a rehabbed vintage fire truck along the riverfront. But now the truck has joined the fray, moving to a semi-permanent location on Tenth Street between Market and Chestnut, in the middle of Citygarden (Ninth and Market streets; 314-802-9571 or citygardenstl.org). And it couldn't be more perfect.

Doing lunch downtown or just looking for an office reprieve? Hit the truck for a scoop of Ronnie's strawberry sorbet in a sugar cone. Ronnie's has been making and selling sorbet in St. Louis for more than 30 years, and it's good stuff.

This is all about the atmosphere. Fresh, bright sorbet in hand, wandering Citygarden on a warm summer day in the shadow of the Gateway Arch while the Fire and Ice Cream Truck plays some classic Jeff Tweedy tunes in the background.

Every summer day in St. Louis should taste and feel like this.
