Lots and lots of ground beef, recalled.

Just in time for grilling season, ground beef has been recalled from opposite ends of the country.

Irish Hills Meat Company in Tipton, Michigan (55 miles southwest of Detroit), recalled about 900 pounds of ground beef for possible E. coli contamination. The suspect beef was shipped to restaurants in southern Michigan.

Food Depot #24 grocery store in McDonough, Georgia, recalled about 500 pounds of ground beef, also for possible E. coli contamination.

No illnesses have been reported from either recall. Beef samples from both facilities tested positive for E. Coli 0157:H7, the form of the bacteria most often found in contaminated beef. It's not connected to the new strain of E. Coli that's killing people in Germany.
