Chef Jonathan Olson
Jonathan Olson is no longer running the kitchen at The Terrace View (808 Chestnut Street; 314-436-8855), the Jim Fiala restaurant inside the grounds of Citygarden.

Neither Olson nor Fiala, in separate phone interviews, wished to delve into the details of the split.

"They let me go on Monday," Olson confirms.

"We decided it was best to part ways," says Fiala.

Olson had worked at the Terrace View since April of this year. Previously, he'd been the executive chef of Erato on Main (126 North Main Street, Edwardsville, Illinois; 618-307-3203).

Olson tells Gut Check that his immediate plans, post-Terrace View, might involve time in Houston, where his father lives.

Olson's departure from the Terrace View is one of a few chef-related news items this week.

George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine broke the news that Steven Caravelli has left Araka (131 Carondelet Plaza, Clayton; 314-725-6777), to be replaced by sous chef Michael Burnau.

Mahe also had the news that Rex Hale has left his position heading the kitchen at McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant (I-270 & Manchester Road, Des Peres; 314-835-1300) for the same position at the soon-to-open Three Sixty rooftop restaurant and bar at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark (1 South Broadway; 314-421-1776).
