New York City Falls in Love with Pappy's and Mike Emerson

The ninth annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party hit the streets of Manhattan this weekend. Pappy's Smokehouse (3106 Olive Street; 314-535-4340) owner Mike Emerson wowed the rain-drenched crowd during Saturday's opening by giving free ribs to the soggy folks waiting in line.

East 20s Eats, a Manhattan-based food blog created by the the Department of Journalism and the Writing Professions at Baruch College to cover the neighborhood around the school, announced its Pappy's love on Twitter.

@PappySmokehouse St. Louis-style ribs were a big hit at the @bigapplebbqnyc. See @e2eats video report: http://t.co/ALK0882 @Pappysbbq #bbqless than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply

Here's its video, featuring St. Louis' own Mike Emerson, being typically humble and gracious regarding the thousands of ribs Pappy's was smoking for the adoring crowds.
