​There's nothing like a warm cookie fresh from the oven. The sweet, comforting smell of leavened butter and sugar-infused treats wafts from seemingly a mile away, ensnaring all within its path. Now, imagine having those little treats at any time of the day, baked fresh to personal specifications and even delivered straight to your door with cold milk to accompany them.

Managing partners Jonathan Weinberg, Ernest Dixson and Tamika Moore hope to make this delectable dream come true for St. Louisans as they prepare to open Dough to Door (567A Melville Avenue, University City; 314-932-7999), which will provide made-from-scratch cookies to the Delmar Loop and surrounding areas.

​They're just like my grandmother made -- no preservatives, all-natural ingredients and all made in-house with love," says Moore, the business' self-proclaimed "senior dougholigist." Weinberg jokingly serves as the company's "chief cookie counter" while Dixson earned the label of "cookie master."

The three St. Louis natives have been hard at work prepping their store for its launch, with a soft opening planned for late next week. The shop's storefront sits next to Gyros in the Loop on Melville Avenue, the street sandwiched between Delmar mainstays Vintage Vinyl and Blueberry Hill. It's the perfect spot to target plenty of foot traffic as well as the local college student population.

​Weinberg says he was inspired to open Dough to Door when he came across a company with a similar business model in Indiana and realized that nothing like it existed in St. Louis. Dough to Door plans to offer twelve made-to-order premium cookies including standards like chocolate chip, chocolate chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, sugar cookies and more (starting out at about $6.25 for half a dozen). Custom cookies are also available.

"Select a type of dough, pick whatever ingredients you want, and we'll mix it up and bake it for you," says Weinberg. The service is simple, yet sublime. Dough to Door's hours will be Sunday through Wednesday from noon to midnight and Thursday through Saturday from noon to 2 a.m. Keep up with Dough to Door online to see when they'll start delivering from their door to yours.
