Bridge & Tunnel Pizza Now Il Posto Pizzeria

First off I want to apologize for my earlier comment.  I was very upset and emotional about my favorite pizza restaurant closing down. And then when I heard that it was being replaced by St Louis-style pizza w/ provel, I was pushed over the edge.  I felt like someone was spitting in my face, and then laughing at me afterwards.  Myself and most civilized people hate provel and believe that was forged by Satan himself.

I am relieved to hear that you will not be serving St Louis style pizza.  I'm also happy that the cheese will not be exclusively provel. I hope no more than 10% of your cheese blend is provel, otherwise if will completely ruin your pizza and people will hate it.  The first time I had provel on pizza, I called the waitress over and asked her if the cheese in the kitchen had gone bad. I know many people who had for their first time and they had stomach cramps afterwards. Every year several tourists die in St Louis because they they eat too much provel and their body is not used to it.   Not only does provel taste awful, but it is also poisonous.

I plan on coming to your restaurant to try your pizza for myself.  If it is good then I will make sure to tell everyone I know and support your restaurant.  However if it is too much like St Louis-style and there is too much provel in the cheese blend, then rest assured I will spend every waking moment of my life ensuring the failure of Il Posto. I hope that it doesn't come to that.  I'm sure you'll do the right thing and keep the provel down to a bare minimum.

For those of you that have chosen to write a review on pizza that you have never tried I would like to clarify some of the false information your giving. First of all il Posto is a Northern Italian pizza not St.Louis style !! If you would like to take the time to come in you can talk to Franco or Lena who although speak broken English would love to tell you the history of their "Northern Italian" recipes. Moving on to the crazy posts about our cheese. Il Posto uses a hand grated and hand sliced 5 cheese blend. In our special blend of cheeses we do use Provel along with with Mozzarella and Swiss.We are very proud of our authentic product at il Posto! We hope that people take the time to try our menu before you write such extreme comments

Man some People on this blog are insane!! Take some meds Sal. I hope the gov't doesn't allow you to own guns. On another note, the pizza is good, and the inside looks a lot better. Good to see a new pizza place downtown.

Wow I've only been open a week and I already have fan!! Way to support your local business St.Louis... Keep up the negativity it only makes me work harder :)Thanks to all of the great people who have shown support it's been an amazing week.

I think it's a fine idea, obviously what they were doing before wasn't making any money.  Maybe if all you people dropping the F bomb like it's going out of style ate there a little more, it wouldn't have to change.  Yes, PI is great, but there is one going in down the street that will cause quite the competition.  To say that the reputation of St. Louis is going to be ruined by some cheese, is a pretty ignorant statement. Give them a break and eat a sandwich or some pasta instead of the pizza.  If you want New York style pizza, go to New York.

What a fucking joke.  They're naming it "Il Posto" and trying to sound all Italian.  Meanwhile they serve provel cheese, which is about as un-Italian as you can get.  I'm sure real Italians would probably prefer feces on their pizza over the abomination that is provel.

@Sal There was a rumor that the Trupiano siblings (remember Lure nightclub?) may be behind this new endeavor. Now, what was that you were saying?

While I feel that "Sal" was being a bit extreme, I absolutely agree with his sentiment.  B&T was the only true NY slice joint around.  The food there was always excellent.

The owners of this new place are a making a HUGE mistake.  The only people who enjoy provel cheese on pizza are those who grew up on it.  However, most people who live downtown are probably transplants who don't like provel.  Furthermore, there are always lots of out-of-towners on the Wash. Ave. strip.  They are going to be VERY rudely surprised when they take a bite of their pizza only to discover that the cheese is not normal.  Then they will be told that the pizza is "St Louis style".  All this will do is cause them to hate St. Louis and tell their friends how awful St. Louis-style pizza is.  Then the reputation of St Louis itself will decline.  And quite frankly, this city needs all the good press that it can get.

It's great that they are grinding their own beef & sausage, but when the cheese on a pizza is bad, the whole pizza is bad.  Quality toppings aren't going to change that.  You can't put lipstick on a pig.

Look at Pi pizza, probably one of the biggest pizza success stories in St Louis.  They already have 4 locations and are doing great.  And their server's uniforms consist of T-shirts that condemn provel cheese.  It's pretty clear that provel is not the way to success.

Maybe if Chris and Frank were opening this restaurant in an older, established St. Louis neighborhood, they would be successful.  But the Wash Ave. strip is NOT the place for St. Louis style pizza.  I sincerely hope that Chris and Frank realize this and switch back to the original NY style before it's too late and they lose too much money. 

Ugh, agreed we don't need more "St. Louis Style" pizza, but I think the name change is a good idea -- the old name always conjured up images of the tunnel bunnies.   And NO, I never have partaken of their 'services'.

WHAT THE MOTHERFUCK!?!?!?  Is this some sort of late April Fools Joke?!  FUCK THIS. B&T was a fucking GEM, I'd love going there and getting a badass NY style slice at 2am. The pizza was always absolutely fucking delicious.

Fuck this fucking bullshit.  If they don't offer good NON-PROVEL pizza BY THE SLICE at late night hours, I will personally make it my personal mission to make sure this place FAILS.  I will smear them on every Internet review site.  I'll spread lies about rat feces in the kitchen, I don't give a FUCK. I hope you're reading this Franco Bongiovani and Nick Smith. If I were you, I would just stick with the B&T formula and not get your nasty-ass fucking provel cheese involved.  Failure to heed this warning will be met with SWIFT retribution.
