St. Louis Bread Co.'s 2011 Great Sandwich Showdown
Each year, St. Louis Bread Co. hosts their Great Sandwich Showdown, where patrons are encouraged to submit their sandwich recipe for a chance to have it added to the Panera menu. There are 20 winners in all, and aside from seeing their sandwich served, the winners get hefty cash prizes and more free, delicious carbohydrates than any one person should consume.

Here's the catch: the sandwich can only be made from ingredients already native to the bakery cafes, so contest entrants are limited. Also, you must include the "story" behind your sandwich, so, if the "story" is that you clicked random ingredients until you came up with a decent combo, you'd best take a creative writing seminar and get comfortable with fibbin'.
Click here to submit your sammich before September 15, and visit often to check up on the competition and perhaps pick up some ideas for lunch.
