Tidbits from Market Grill, Pita Pit

|Inside Market Grill in Soulard|
- We learned a couple of weeks ago that Jonathan Olson would take over as chef of Soulard's Market Grill (728 Lafayette Avenue; 314-436-7664).The restaurant debuted its new menu last weekend, and you can now peruse it online. Dishes include a dry-aged rib eye, seared scallops with butternut-squash gnudi and a porchetta sandwich. As is his custom, Olson uses meat and produce from several Missouri and Illinois farms.
- We continue to wonder when Pita Pit will open its first St. Louis location at 200 North Ninth Street downtown. When we drove past the location last week, it certainly looked ready to go. Our attempts to contact the restaurant have been unsuccessful. However, the restaurant left a comment on its own Facebook page yesterday to say that it is still waiting on a few city inspections.
