Tidbits from Casa Gallardo, the Food Truck Scene and More
- Real Mex Restaurants Inc., the parent company of Casa Gallardo and Chevy's Fresh Mex, has filed for bankruptcy, the St. Louis Business Journal reports. The California-based company claims to have lined up the funding needed to continue operations while it enacts its turnaround plan.
The Business Journal notes that earlier this summer, the St. Louis franchisee of Chevy's also filed for bankruptcy.
- The St. Louis food truck fleet is expanding yet again. Sauce Magazine reports on two new trucks that will be rolling out in the coming weeks: a gyro truck called Go! Gyro! Go! and a truck serving St. Louis-centric dishes called 2 Girls 4 Wheels.
(No, really, it's called 2 Girls 4 Wheels.)
- George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine has learned that local restaurateur Chris LaRocca (Crazy Fish, among many others) will open a pizza joint called Crushed Red Urban Bake & Chop Shop at 8007 Maryland Avenue in Clayton.
