PETA's take on Tofu Boy.

Variety magazine recently published an article about the growth of Chinese animation, breaking the news that the Chinese animated feature film Tofu Boy is slated to hit U.S. theaters during the holidays in 2013. It's a retelling of Pinocchio set in modern-day Shanghai.

Thing is, American culture already has two Tofu Boys. That's not including St. Louis' own Dan Brewer of MOFU.

A year ago this month, independent video-game developers Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes released Super Meat Boy. Players in the Donkey Kong-style game control Meat Boy as he tries to save his girlfriend, Bandage Girl, from Dr. Fetus.

On December 1, PETA released their parody game, Super Tofu Boy. Our hero works his way through a bloody meat-processing plant to save Bandage Girl. Game reviewers weren't impressed.

The next day, Super Meat Boy incorporated their own Super Tofu Boy into its game. He's squishy.
