Chop Shop Food Truck Launches Today

You know, I was just thinking it's been too long -- 24 hours, at least, maybe 48 -- since a new food truck hit the streets of St. Louis. Today, Chop Shop will make its maiden voyage, arriving at Purina headquarters (Chouteau Avenue between South Tucker Boulevard and South Seventh Street) at 11 a.m., according to its Facebook page.

Chop Shop is the new venture from Eliott Harris, the sushi chef who in 2009 revitalized Miso on Meramec (16 North Meramec Avenue, Clayton; 314-863-7888). Unsurprisingly, then, sushi rolls are the focus of Chop Shop's menu, which is also posted on its Facebook page.

The rolls are divided into "Big Fat Sushi Rolls," like the "Low Rider" with spicy snow crab, cucumber, tempura suzuki, avocados, jalapeño and chile aioli, and "Deconstructed Rolls," like the "Caddy," sushi rice topped with yellowfin tuna, spring onion, kaiware sprout, masago, avocado, ponzu sauce and truffle-chive oil.
