Tidbits from Duff's, Diablitos Cantina

- Central West End institution Duff's (392 North Euclid Avenue; 314-361-0522) is for sale, according to an item (subscription required) in the current issue of the St. Louis Business Journal. Duff's opened in 1972, part of the fabled "Class of '72" of St. Louis restaurants. This weekend, Post-Dispatch columnist Bill McClellan penned a very nice tribute to the restaurant and its founder, Karen Duffy, who is retiring.

- Diablitos Cantina, serving cuisine inspired by Mexican street vendors and a lengthy tequila selection, will open this Friday, December 16, at 3761 Laclede Avenue. This is the latest addition to the restaurant family owned by Ami Grimes and Gurpreet Prada (Café Ventana, Sanctuaria and the current incarnation of Chuy Arzola), and once again their go-to executive chef is Chris Lee. Gut Check will have a "First Look" at Diablitos very soon.
