Moonshine is making a comeback.

This Saturday, December 10, Crown Valley Brewery (13326 State Route F, Sainte Genevieve; 573-756-9463) is taking things ol' school by releasing its first moonshine. The Missouri Moonshine is a rye moonshine with unaged whiskey.

"We wanted to release something people in this area used to do a long time ago and get back into it," says manager Susan Shannon.

The brewery is best known for its beer, which includes over a dozen selections, from its Farmhouse Lager to its Raspberry Wheat.

"We've been working on our spirits, and we've already released a vodka. We're aging a whiskey now," Shannon adds.

The Missouri Moonshine Release Party runs from noon-6 p.m. There will be food, a live band and even a demonstration on how to stuff corn-cob pipes. The cost is $10 per plate of food and $5 per moonshine tasting.
