- George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine and Ligaya Figueras of Sauce both check in with Andrew Ladlie, the former sous chef at Annie Gunn's who left that position to help Mike "Talayna" Faille open the restaurant originally to be called Ol' Blue Eyes and now operating as Frontenac Grill. Ladlie now plans to open a southern-themed restaurant called Sassy Jac's at 1730 South Eighth Street in Soulard, the space previously occupied by the first incarnation of the Peter Kinder-approved Verlin's Bar and Grill.
- Finally, in yet another sign of the area's remarkable craft-brewery boom, Evan Benn of the Post-Dispatch reports that Farmhaus (3257 Ivanhoe Avenue; 314-647-3800) is retooling its beer list to feature almost exclusively beers from the St. Louis region.
