What Is St. Louis' Most Overrated Burger?

O'Connell's Pub.  The burger was a steamed baseball shaped ball of meat with no grll crust and no seasoning.  I don't get it.

O'Connels burger is mediocre at best. It's small, dry and flavorless. I have given it several opportunities. McDonalds could put a hurt on O'Connels! If you want a good burger, try The Royale or Seamus McDaniels.

Five Guys. No choice but well done? Can a well done slab of beef even be called a burger? 

Blueberry Hill's burger gets my vote for the most OVERRATED burger in St. Louis. I really believe that it only makes it in the ''best of" every year, because all of Joe Edward's employees are required to stuff the ballot box full of nominations for it. I defy anyone to place BB Hill's burger next to O'Connell's and Seamus McDaniel's burgers, do a taste test, and HONESTLY try to tell me that it's as good or better than those. It's fixed I tell you. Joe has done his best to create his own "Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood", (right down to trying to get the freaking trolley!), but he's not fooling any of us hamburger aficionados into believing that his miniscule, sub par version of a burger is superior to these other establishments. If it's such a great burger, why does he go elsewhere to get his beef fix????

5 guys is the most overrated. the meat is greasy & bland. the fries are greasy & bland. have these guys ever heard of an exotic little seasoning called salt? the only thing that wasn't greasy & bland was my iced tea.

Bluebrrry Hill, always underwhelming.

The Tavern. "Bacon jam"? That sh*t is NASTY. Terrible service, awful fishy-tasting burger with aforementioned nasty substance=nasty. NASTY. Did I say nasty? 

O'Connells - because the place is swell, people think the burgers are too.  They are VERY ORDINARY!

Blueberry Hill. burger doesn't come with fries, and for being one of the most popular local restaurants the fact that they have no point of service system and can't split a check for a large party blows my mind.

Blueberry Hill. The service was disinterested, the burger barely edible.  I've never been back.

Bailey's Range We ordered two burgers, both medium rare. One was med. well and the other was well done. They were also under-seasoned. I like the atmosphere and they have a great beer selection though.

5 guys is expensive as shit.....ill never go there again...ill take a wendys double for 6.20 with fries and a drink!

I nominate 5 guys burgers as most overated .I think tbhey are way to expensive for the size burgers they serve and the selection of toppings is weak as well.

5 Guys -- I was led to believe that this would be a great burger, just more affordable than a top-notch restaurant burger. It is not. It is more like a fast-food burger, just more expensive. And, they're fries sucked.

The Ground Round- The free popcorn and the ice cream sundae in the Cardinals mini-helmet were great.  However, the burger lacked.

Five Guys and Smashburger.

Seamus McDaniel's, definitely. Not too far removed from any other bar burger, and usually over salted.

O'Connell's has a lot of competition these days, but if they just offered more toppings (as additional purchases, gotta keep the standard cheap) than they do now (lettuce? tomato?), I think that would improve things exponentially. I don't think that there's really anything wrong with their beef or how the cook it, and it's always been satisfying comfort food for me.

O'Connells, easily. That burger has been coasting on reputation for far too long.

The Royale disappointed me.  Heard great things and was thoroughly unimpressed.

Blueberry Hill consistently underwhelms me as well.  I just don't get why it has received all the press for their burgers through the years when it is nothing special.

Another vote for Blueberry Hill over here. Glad to see some people backing me up on this. It's serviceable, but award-winning "best burger?" How does this keep happening?

O'Connells for sure...  I've never detected anything about their burger to distinguish it from any other hamburger.  There's nothing wrong with it but there's also nothing that makes it deserve all the accolades it receives.

I love the royale but their signature burger bores me and is overrated.

5 guys is more obviously overrated. I'mNot anti-chain, i'm just anti-shitty burgers.

Cheeburger Cheeburger still exists?  There used to be a few near where I lived in South Florida, and I always thought they sucked.  Boring burgers, shitty too-thin, too-greasy fries, and really overpriced.

My vote is for Five Guys though.  They spread across the country like a malignancy, sustained by (wholly undeserved) word of mouth, and draw business away from local burger places I actually enjoy.

Smashburger..no flavor...the pretzel buns are always burnt. No good.

No one has mentioned O'Connell's?! Consistently tops the best-burger list and is mediocre at best. I think the Royale's is pretty amazing, personally....surprised to see it on this list.

Five Guys and Carl's.  Both overrated. 

Five Guys burgers are completely underwhelming - oily and soggy. O'Connells is the same way. I have no idea why everyone raves about these burgers.

Five Guys.  Did they take the Burger Chef model and re-do it to fail again, or are they just figuring if the population of the area all buys just one burger each, they can call it a day.  Give me a bowling alley burger (2 at the same price) before I go here again.  

Another vote for Blueberry Hill. I love the place, but the food has always been mediocre at best, and the burger fails to meet just about any criteria for a quality burger. How it consistently comes up in a Best Of conversation totally escapes me.

And yeah, the Royale's is pretty meh, too.

Cheeburger Cheeburger...the blandest burger patty ever. It's no wonder they have the list of condiments a mile long...you need them all to make it taste like something.
