Breastaurant Owner Buys Texas Town on Craigslist, Renames It Bikinis
Some day in the not too distant future, a young child in Bikinis, Texas, will ask his or her parents how their hometown came to acquire its name. Mom and Dad will hem and haw and try to change the topic before one of them finally blurts out the truth.
Boobs.
Yes, Doug Guller, owner of the Austin, Texas-based breastaurant chain Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill (among several other ventures), recently purchased BankerSmith, a ghost town in Texas, and plans to rename it Bikinis.
According to the Bikinis, Texas, website -- yes, it already has its own website -- the town's population dwindled rapidly after World War II.
The most noteworthy feature around Bankersmith is the old railroad tunnel -- a man-made sanctuary for thousands of bats.
One imagines that, when Guller is done transforming Bikinis, the bats will no longer be the most prominent manmade feature in town.
Guller tells Eater Austin (via Gawker) that he plans to feature live music and a dance hall in Bikinis.
As for the eventual community that will find its way to Bikinis, Gut Check at least knows where Guller can find police, school and other uniforms.
