New Tapas Restaurant for Forest Park Southeast's Grove
The restaurant space at 4501 Manchester Avenue at the western end of Forest Park Southeast's Grove district has sat empty since the exceptionally brief run last year of Crostini Restaurant and Lounge. (Before that, the space was home to Mia Rosa.)
Paper recently went up in the windows at 4501 Manchester, the telltale sign that something is happening, and Gut Check can confirm that a new restaurant will open there.
Charles Pener, a partner in Momos Ouzaria Taverna (630 North and South Road University City; 314-863-5311), will open a restaurant called Joyia in the space.
In a brief conversation with Gut Check, Pener described Joyia as a Mediterranean tapas restaurant, featuring dishes from Greek, Spanish, Italian and Lebanese cuisine.
Look for an October opening. We hope to have more from Pener about Joyia in the coming weeks.
