Recall Roundup: E. Coli + Beef Trim, Listeria + Spinach, Mangos + Salmonella
We have news of multiple food recalls this week via the FDA and the USDA. None of them impact the St. Louis area directly yet, but all bear watching...
- The USDA yesterday announced a recall of raw boneless beef trim products from the Canadian company XL Foods Inc., for possible E. coli contamination.
The products were distributed to companies in eight U.S. states (not Missouri or Illinois) for further processing into retail products. No word yet on what those specific products are or whether they might have reached the St. Louis area.
- Kroger Fresh Selections has announced a recall of certain ten-ounce packages of its Kroger Fresh Selections Tender Spinach for possible listeria contamination. The stores affected include a few Missouri retailers, but none in the St. Louis area. The recalled packages have a UPC code of 0001111091649 and a best-by date of September 16.
- Finally, multiple vendors have issued recalls of products that include mango that might be contaminated with salmonella: Del Monte, Garden Highway and Signature Cafe and United Salad Co. among them. Neither Missouri nor Illinois have been named as states where the recalled products, all of which have been linked back to a source in Mexico, were distributed.
