Mike Shannon's Opening New Concept in Edwardsville
Evan Benn of the Post-Dispatch and Ligaya Figueras of Sauce both reported yesterday that Mike Shannon's Steaks and Seafood (620 Market Street; 314-421-1540) will open an "upscale casual" concept in Edwardsville, Illinois.

The new restaurant, Mike Shannon's Grille, will be located in the same shopping plaza as Peel Wood-Fired Pizza (921 South Arbor Vitae, Edwardsville, Illinois; 618-659-8561).
As Benn notes, Pat Shannon-VanMatre, co-owner of Mike Shannon's (the restaurant) and daughter of Mike Shannon (the human being), tweeted a link to a LinkedIn posting seeking a head chef for the new restaurant. That posting also describes the Mike Shannon's Grille concept:
Mike Shannon's Grill will be a moderately priced, stylish Grill and lounge serving traditional and progressive American fare. It will have a warm, inviting, relaxed table service ambiance, to go along with a lively bar atmosphere. The décor for Mike Shannon's Grille can be described as contemporary sports themed with one of a kind memorabilia. Mike Shannon's Grille will be open seven days a week serving both lunch and dinner.
At the very least, Gut Check hopes Mike Shannon's Grille offers a special on a nice ham sandwich and a cold frosty one.
