Pan d'Olive Opening in Mihalis Chophouse Space [Updated]
I'd heard from a couple of readers in recent weeks about activity, including the telltale paper in the windows, at the former Mihalis Chophouse space at 1603 McCausland Avenue.

Driving past there this morning, I saw -- I couldn't miss, really: it's big -- a sign announcing that something, presumably a restaurant, called Pan d'Olive will be opening there soon.
Mihalis closed in 2010 after a not-quite five-year run. According to City of St. Louis property records, Mihalis owner Michael Malliotakis, who also owns Michael's Bar & Grill (7101 Manchester Avenue; 314-644-2240), still owns the property. Attempts to reach him this morning have yet to be successful. More as we learn it.
Update: (Tuesday, October 30, 11:45 a.m.) George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine reports that Sam Kacar of Trattoria Branica (10411 Clayton Road, Frontenac; 314-432-8585) is behind Pan d'Olive.
Kacar recently closed the Kirkwood location of Trattoria Branica at 451 South Kirkwood Road, which will become the new home of Sapore Italian Café (Baxter Road & Andersohn Drive, Manchester; 636-256-3949).
