Peanut-Butter Recall Expanded to Two Years' Worth of Sunland Products
Sunland Inc., the company identified by the FDA and the CDC as the "likely" source of the recent outbreak of salmonella traced to peanut butter, has expanded its voluntary recall of peanut-butter products that it produced at a single plant and then sold under various brand names to include over two years' worth of products.

Sunland's initial recall involved products manufactured between May 1 and September 24 of this year. Now, however, Sunland has expanded the recall to include every product that has been manufactured in its peanut-butter plant since March 1, 2010.
March 1, 2010 is not the date that consumers need to know, however. Instead, the company says in a press release posted on the FDA website, that consumers should discard or return any product with a sell-by date of March 1, 2011 or later.

According to the CDC, as of October 5, the salmonella outbreak has sickened 35 people in nineteen states.
