The presidential debates might be over, but with the election mere days away, a heated race looms large on the political landscape. Will Governor Mitt Romney unseat President Barack Obama?

We're not soothsayers or Nate Silver, so we don't have answers about which candidate will triumph. Instead we're quenching our election-polling thirst by tracking Fitz's (6605 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-726-9555) limited-edition presidential election root beer bottle battle.

No, seriously.

The latest root-beer numbers from Fitz's are holding steady and continue to give the incumbent a slight edge over the challenger: 2,378 Obama bottles sold versus 2,270 Romney bottles.

We checked those numbers against political-stat savant Silver's New York Times' blog FiveThirtyEight, which gives Obama a 50.2 percent slice of the popular vote, and gives the president a 71 percent chance of winning the election -- a 5.3 percent increase since our update last week.
