Here's an October opening that slipped past our notice: The Rustic Goat Eatery & Lounge debuted on Wednesday, October 31, at 2617 Washington Avenue.

This is one of several new ventures at the intersection of Washington and Jefferson, the eastern limit of Midtown, along with the Washington Avenue Grill (2605 Washington Avenue; 314-932-5855) and the Coliseum Music Lounge (2619 Washington Avenue; 314-531-2920).

We weren't able to get in touch with the restaurant this morning, but we were able to glean a little more information from both its website and Facebook page.

The Facebook page includes a photo of the Rustic Goat's lunch menu, which appears to be in the contemporary American bistro vein with a Southern bent. Entrées include braised beef short ribs with a "Carolina BBQ" sauce and seared trout in a buttermilk-pomme purée. There are "Plantation Rice Carolina Grits" served with shrimp or, yes, braised goat. There also sandwiches and flatbread pizzas.

From the website, we can report that the Rustic Goat is open for lunch 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday and for dinner 4:30-10 p.m. Wednesday, 4:30-midnight Thursday, 4:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. Friday and 5 p.m.-1:30 a.m. Saturday. The restaurant's closed on Sunday.
