In November Gut Check reported that Jim Fiala's restaurant Liluma (236 North Euclid Avenue; 314-361-7771) in the Central West End was scheduled to close in late December.

Today the restaurant confirms that its last day of business will be Saturday, December 22. Liluma will permanently shut its doors following dinner service that night.

So if you want one last Liluma lunch or dinner, maybe make that reservation today.

Fiala plans to reopen the space currently occupied by Liluma as a steakhouse in partnership with Derek and Lucas Gamlin, owners of neighboring Sub Zero Vodka Bar (308 North Euclid Avenue; 314-367-1200).

When Gut Check spoke to Fiala last month about Liluma's closure he had the following to say:

"Liluma needed a facelift," Fiala says. "This gives me a great opportunity to take a restaurant that's been around for ten years and say, 'Thank you, St. Louis, but we got something better down the road.'"
