Spice-n-Grill Reopens in University City
Whenever a restaurant closes for "renovations," a savvy restaurant-goer hears alarm bells. Yes, some restaurants do go through with renovations. Often, though, it's code for "We are done."

When Gut Check reported in October that the Indian and Pakistani restaurant Spice-n-Grill (6800F Olive Boulevard, University City; 314-721-2421) had closed for renovations, I did not have a good feeling.
The restaurant was less than a year old and very small (without any room to expand). What renovations could they undertake?
On the other hand, the signage announcing the temporary closure included a very specific reopening date -- Tuesday, December 4.
I stopped by the restaurant today to find that it had indeed reopened as scheduled. I didn't notice any obvious renovations. A new coat of paint, maybe? At any rate, the carryout menu I took appears the same, minus the few American dishes (a Philly cheesesteak, wings) that it used to have.
Spice-n-Grill is open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. For more on the restaurant -- and why I have a special fondness for it -- read my review and our award for "Best Comeback" 2012.
