First Look: Chubbies Offers Burgers, Wings and Frozen Custard to Make You Nice and Pudgy [Photos]
The fresh ground patties at Chubbies (6227 Delmar Boulevard; 314-725-5000), a new burger, wing and custard joint in the Delmar Loop, are made up of three different cuts of beef, but the owner Wally won't say what exactly. "I'd have to throw you off the top of the Arch if I did," he says with a laugh.

Wally prefers to not disclose his full name, noting that "Chubbies" is a childhood nickname that's stuck with him - the nicer version of it, apparently. He seems relatively secretive when it comes to specifics, but he's not at all shy about his food. On any given day, he's a customer service machine, taking orders at the counter, delivering meals to diners' seats and enthusiastically hollering across the room the second anyone needs a refill or anything else.
Maybe it's Wally's backwards baseball cap and outgoing demeanor, the strangely miscellaneous decor (a Cardinals World Series plaque, a stray basketball hoop and Big Bang Theory sitcom swag) or the bite-sized dining room that seats no more than twenty or so hungry individuals, but something about Chubbies makes it feel like a hole-in-the-wall joint from a different city. Gut Check could easily picture it on a bustling city block in Chicago or NYC, and on a nice day with plenty of foot traffic, those seats can fill up pretty quickly.
