Gut Check loves us some wine. Yesterday was National Wine Day, and let's just say we did the holiday proud. Aside from guzzling glasses of grape, we, on occasion, like to read about wine, too. Imagine our delight, then, upon learning that four St. Louis wine bars are featured in the March 2013 issue of Wine Enthusiast Magazine.

Even more delightful, three of the four wine bars featured made Gut Check's 2012 list of the nine best wine bars in St. Louis.

Not too shabby.

In the article, titled "Something New Is Brewing in St. Louis," writer Scott Hickey highlights the following four St. Louis wine bars: Bridge Tap House & Wine Bar (1004 Locust Street; 314-241-8141), Copia Urban Winery (1122 Washington Avenue; 314-241-9463), Robust (227 West Lockwood Avenue, Webster Groves; 314-963-0033) and 33 Wine Shop & Tasting Bar (1913 Park Avenue; 314-231-9463).

Short descriptions of each wine bar including neighborhood and ownership information are accompanied by food and drink recommendations. Our only gripe: Though Robust's flagship Webster Groves wine bar is featured, its new second location in the MX Building, which opened in December 2012, isn't mentioned.

Still, very nice of Wine Enthusiast Magazine to show St. Louis some love.

We'll drink to that.

My head is still spinning, trying to figure out how anybody could call Washington "hipster" (in the blurb on the Bridge). Must derive from either a lack of first-hand experience with area, or a complete lack of understanding of what "hipster" means.
