Vote for St. Louis' Most Overrated Pizza
We asked you to nominate St. Louis' most overrated pizza, and you responded. More specifically, many of you -- a clear majority -- named one of two very well known local operations that, as it happens, couldn't be more different from each other. One is a favorite of generations of St. Louis. One is a favorite of many among the St. Louis food media, this publication (and yours truly) included. So overwhelming was the response that we struggled to come up with more than these two nominees.![]()

The Finalists
BlackThorn Pizza & Pub (3735 Wyoming Street; 314-776-0534)
Corey Butler: I waited till I was 21 to enjoy their burnt, mound of greasy cheese with no sauce.
Dewey's Pizza (multiple locations)
jwilkins88: I'm gonna say it...Dewey's. I've just never understood the hype.
Imo's Pizza (multiple locations)
jkingstl: Absolutely, without a doubt - Imo's I actually really like provel as an option for pizza, and I dig most other St. Louis style pizzas, but I just don't get the Imo's love - at all. Also? Why is it so damned expensive?
Editor's Note: I like this take on why Imo's is overrated because it allows for an acceptance of St. Louis-style pie, which not all of us (ahem) like in just about any form.
