The Ten Best Food Events in St. Louis This Weekend: March 8 to 10

If you fly 30,000 oysters in from the Pacific coast, they will come. We imagine those were the sort of thoughts the folks at Schlafly had when planning their first stout and oyster festival. Help them make their shellfish dreams come true but checking out their event and more this weekend.

Friday (Mar. 8):

Stout and Oyster Festival @ Schlafly Tap Room
Schlafy's biggest food and beer festival of the year yields thousands of oysters paired with Oatmeal Stout, Coffee Stout and Nitro Irish Stout. Admission is free. Friday, Mar. 8 from 5 p.m. to midnight and Saturday, Mar. 9 from 11 a.m. to midnight.

Saturday (Mar. 9):

Wild Ale Weekend @ International Tap House - Soulard
ITAP taps a dozen kegs including Odell Meddler, Duchess, Evil Twin Femme Fatale and Savant Beersal. Stop by around noon to what they're all about.

Moonshine Tasting @ Randall's
Sample Mad Buffalo Distillery's Thunderbeast Storm Moonshine. Click on the above link above to learn more! Free. 1 to 5 p.m.

Crack Heard Around the World @ Whole Foods Market - Town and Country
Whole Foods Markets across the country break into hundreds of wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano simataneously. See it happen at your local store and get a sample with some pairing ideas. Free. 2 p.m.

Three Year Anniversary @ The Vino Gallery
There are plenty of wine tastings, artwork, appetizers, birthday cake, by the glass specials and door prizes to go around during this anniversary celebration. Admission is free. 6 p.m.

A Toast to ALS Research @ SqWires
SqWires' owner and executive chef Bethany Budde cooks up a four-course meal with wine pairings for the cause. Call 1-888-873-8539 for more information. 6 p.m.

Sunday (Mar. 10):

25th Healthy Planet Natural Living Expo @ Webster Groves Recreation Center
An admission price of $16 grants visitors access to exhibit booths with CSA options and eco-friendly food, wine, beer, coffee and tea samples. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Irish Brunch @ Bixby's
Look for traditional Irish menu items like soda bread and corned beef and cabbage, along with an assortment of desserts and champagne. The cost is $24.75 per adult, $13.50 for children 12-and-under, and free for children three and under. Call 314-575-5658 for reservations. For some extra shades of shamrock in your Sunday, chip in an extra $5 for a glass of beer to go with your meal. Every Sunday this month (except for Easter) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Oysters Five Ways Festival @ Vin de Set
In conjunction with Schlafly's Oyster Fest, fresh Penn Cove Pacific coast oysters get flown in, served raw, baked, fried and grilled. Click here to see the full menu. From 4 p.m. 'til all the oysters get eaten!

Fun with Fondant @ Kitchen Conservatory
Francie Valenta of Encore Baking leads this hands-on class on basic fondant techniques to create flowers, bows and other decorations. $50 per person. Register online through the Kitchen Conservatory website. 5:30 p.m.
