Fast-food workers and their supporters kept their pledge yesterday in staging a large and boisterous march and rally Thursday afternoon in the Delmar Loop.

Chanting slogans such as "get up, get down; fast-food workers run this town!" and "we want change; and we don't mean pennies!" the group of more than 100 marched past Church's, Chipotle and other fast-food restaurants before ending at Vintage Vinyl for speeches.

The demonstration follows similar protests in Chicago and New York in which employees walked off their jobs for a day. And like efforts in those cities, the group STL Can't Survive on $7.35 is asking that fast-food workers earn a living wage of $15 an hour and be free to join a labor union without retaliation from their employers.

Continue on for videos of yesterday's march.

Get education skills, fast food is for kids in hs job.

A person that takes care of children makes less than what fast food workers are asking for. $15 an hour is a joke for a position that takes no formal education. What does it saw when a person working at a fast food joint makes more than a college educated person does. Keep dreaming that 15.

Plenty of other business owners agree with me Steve....Just ask Craig Jelinek.

"Yea Steve the only opinions that matter are the ones of business owners right Steve?" they're the ones paying the wage.

If you got skills and can market your self the jobs are out there .they might not be the highest paying ,but just because you find one job doesn't mean you should quit looking for a better job .would you like fries with that is not a skilled high paying job..I see people holding signs every day saying they have no job any help appreciated, then right behind them is a now hiring sign .if you want a job they're out there .its up yo you to go out and market your self and get one that makes your ends meet .

Just to let you in on a little fact; There are more people looking for work than there are jobs. Why don't you think about that before you demonize people that are demanding fair wages?

Especially, if you can't refrain from pushing the space bar before a period.

Why go on strike if you don't think your making enough money get off your ass and go find a better job ,like other people do . If you can't make my food right or pay attention to what I say when I order, then I don't think you should get a raise .if you got skills and your not making enough then you need to go out and better your self .

Wages should be determined by the success of the company you work for therefor the starting wage at walmart should be 15$ an hour and the same should go for wealthy fast food chains. I'm proud that workers here in STL are finally starting to stand up for themselves cause no one else and I mean NO ONE is going to do that for them.

More Entitlement. And why is someone automatically entitled to $15.00 per hour? Because: (list a good reason): ______________________  Note:  If fast-food restaurant wages do increase as a result of this action, I think it's inevitable that those who are currently striking will eventually lose their jobs, because more qualified applicants who are currently not interested in a $7.XX per hour job will apply for and land the fast-food jobs! Where, then, will the current fast-food worker crowd go to find work? Let's see: what job category is lower than fast-food????????????

I'm wondering if a march through school (for a second time) might not yield a better return?

What is considered "Fast Food" these days? Franchises only? or any ol' hamburger joint?

Did anyone end up getting fired for walking off the job?
