Bike to Work Breakfasts @ Downtown Bicycle Station & Kaldi's On Demun
Trailnet hosts this series of promotional events the third friday of every month from now through October to encourage bike travel. Show up on two wheels and get rewarded with free coffee and a mini scone. 7 to 9 a.m.
Maifest @ International Tap House; Chesterfield, MO
To celebrate the coming of spring, ITAP hosts a two day bender filled with food, music and local and traditional German beer. On Saturday, check out "Geschmack," a 30+ craft beer tasting from 2 to 6 p.m. General admission the day of is $5 -- scroll to the bottom of the ITAP website for detailed pricing options. Friday, May 17 from 4 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. and Satuday, May 18 from 2 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
Third Friday Open House @ Third Degree Glass Factory
The drink of the month is "Mmmargaritas," and food trucks on hand include Sarah's MeltDowns, Cha Cha Chow and Kona Mobile Cafe. Fuel up on some tasty sustenance before partaking in the festivities of the evening including live music, free massages, free henna tattoos and shopping for various crafted goodies. Admission is free. 6 to 10 p.m.
Saturday (May 18):
Taste of Maplewood Festival @ streets of Maplewood
"One block of Sutton Boulevard between Manchester and Hazel will cease to be a road and instead become a foodie paradise, with vendors offering samples and live music and entertainment... Admission and entertainment are free, but vendors will be charging for food and drinks." Noon to 9 p.m.
St. Jacob Strawberry Festival and Berry Bicycle Ride @ Township Park; St. Jacob, IL
"The Berry Bicycle Ride will kick off the event at 7:30 a.m. at St. Jacob Township Park. There are four trail routes for riders with different skill levels (super short, short, medium and long) on mostly flat terrain. The ride will end at the strawberry festival with strawberry shortcake for all the riders." Basic registration costs $16 per person and can be done online. The Strawberry Fest lasts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Chinese Culture Days @ Missouri Botanical Garden
"China is a large country with an even larger history. You could spend a lifetime studying just one province and still have more to learn... culinary demonstrations take place in the Kemper Center for Home Gardening Kitchen. If that makes you hungry -- and it will -- the Chinese food court can take care of you." Admission is $5 to $12. Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
