Home Wine Kitchen (7322 Manchester Road; 314-802-7676) is hosting a six-course wine dinner tonight, August 22, in collaboration with Chaumette Winery in Ste. Genevieve. The Maplewood restaurant, known for its delicious burger as much as its ever-changing menu, was even featured in Bon Appetit last month. So what are you waiting for?
The first course is a fruit salad with goat cheese, honey, pistachio and mint, followed by red prawn with green apple, cucumber, buttermilk, celery, grape and almond. Here's where chef Cassy Vires steps it up: pork rillette with frisee, quail egg, mustard bacon and raspberry.
Next is squab (warning: pigeon) with chanterell mushrooms, English peas, egg yolk, cream and tarragon. Hopefully you'll have saved room in your stomach at this point for the osso bucco -- Colorado lamb, blueberry, cayenne, pancetta and polenta. Finish it off with chocolate pudding, topped with assorted berries, sea salt and cream.
