Did we forget your fave? | Ian Froeb

In celebration of our annual Best of St. Louis issue, we thought it appropriate to reinvigorate the search for St. Louis' most underrated and overrated foods and restaurants. For our last poll, readers voted Imo's as the city's most overrated pizza. Apparently, the square is not beyond compare.

Knowing how equally territorial we can all be about our favorite delis and sandwich shops, we're on the hunt for St. Louis' most underrated sandwich shop.

The procedure, in case you've forgotten: Nominate your choice for St. Louis' most underrated sandwich shop in the comments. Be sure to include an explanation of why you think it is underrated. The more detailed and/or clever the explanation, the more likely we are to notice it. Remember, we are looking for sandwich shops, not just sandwiches.

Nominations are open until noon this Friday, September 27. Voting opens next week.

Happy eating!

No question, no doubts it is Majic Market in Kirkwood.  All their food is delicious.  But if you like Gyros, you will love Majic Market.  The sandwiches are served with Boar's head meats.  Rueben can't go wrong..  If bacon is your thing . . .  their BLT has tons of bacon on it.  I recommend Majic Market

My fave sandwiches come from Bradden's on Main in St. Charles. Everything, from the Reuben on marbled rye to the portabello with mozzarella on a sweet bakery bun, is awesome.

Gioia's on the Hil has the most underrated sandwich. order the hot salami, or the roast beef. The giardenara is a great addition as is the horsey mayo. Holy smokes is it worth every penny for such beautiful slices of protein and such beautiful people!

Most overrated by far is gioias on the hill it's shitty quality meat. Close second for being overrated is moms. The best sandwich shop is by far LeGrands awesome quality, great service. Also probably the only Sandwich/butcher/grocery/bait n tackle/ liquor/ bar n grill/ boat shop in the world. That's right I bought a boat from there!

A hidden gem of a sandwich would have to be the Gyro at Majic Market deli on Woodbine in Kirkwood. Absolutely THE BEST gyro I have ever had!!!. The customer service is great there and the choice of food items keeps me coming back time after time but the majority of the time I just have to order the gyro because it is soooo good!!!

Dont you mean Kirkwood Market? It was called Majic Market (Essex & Geyer) for at least 4 decades, but was bought out a few years ago and renamed. I miss the video games in the back of the store... but yeah, the food is pretty good. Nothing to spam the RFT online about in three seperate posts, but worth a try for the food critic.

@ayatollahovrocknroll There is a deli at Geyer and Essex but it is not Majic Market. The original Majic Market moved to 640 West Woodbine about 3 years ago. It is across the street from the 7-11 store. Majic Market still has their original gyros and Boars Head meat plus the menu has been expanded to include more sandwich and food options
