Caffeine addiction is not a joke, son. | Nancy Stiles

For this week's edition of Underrated/Overrated, we are tackling one thing we really can't live without: coffee. Yes, much of our caffeine intake is from the office coffee machine, and yes, sometimes we have no choice but to go to Starbucks. But St. Louis is having a boom in craft coffee, from Sump's Sidewinder machine to Blueprint's pour-overs, it's a regular java renaissance.

More Than Coffee in Manchester. Every time I stop there, I get three things. One is a great cup of coffee. The second is the joy of buying from a place with putting real people first in the business. The third is how good you feel just talking to Sam. He can really help you smile on a crappy day!

La Cosecha is so highly underrated that it can be hard to find, but the find is so worth it. Even the smell of the locally roasted beans is special.

La Cosecha is thee most underrated coffee shop in St. Louis.  They fresh roast on site, so you know your coffee is fresh.   They source their beans from exotic locales around the globe and turn it into something amazing.   My favorite is their Papua New Guinea (PNG).  Agree with the op "Awesome stuff!"

My choice is La Cosecha!  There is no better way to get started in the morning than having a cup of this tasty brew.

More Than Coffee on Manchester near 141. Their coffee is great and Sam provides a kind word that just makes my day every time I visit. He also trains disabled workers to enter the workforce in other food establishments. What a great local business. My favorite brew is called Heavenly.

More Than Coffee on Manchester. Not only does Sam serve great coffee, he always says something to brighten my day! I have been known to stop by when I needed cheering up more than perking up. And he trains disabled workers to enter the food service industry. What more could we ask from a local shop. Did I mention his charitable donations?

Gelateria del Leone, but depending on the barista. A guy who works there is seriously good, but others are pretty good too.

La Cosecha! The boys have been roasting the delicious beans for a few years and selling at various discerning locations around town. Now you can get fresh-brewed deliciousness at the lovely spot on Manchester in Maplewood they share with yummy Great Harvest Bakery. Ever since my office switched to a cheap out of town brew (boo), I've had to stop for my morning shot made by Gregory, barrissta extraordinaire! You can support Fair-trade AND local business - a win-win!

Gelateria del Leone doesn't get enough love for the coffee side of their menu. It is consistently good.

Comet is the most underrated.  Meshuggah pretty overrated, as well as Coffee Cartel.

frankly, the very fact that Meshuggah Café did not make it to your top ten list this past July, automatically qualifies it as the most underrated coffee place in STL.  Outstanding food, soul satisfying coffee, local art, great people makes this Delmar treasure not only the best place for coffee, but a true community hub.
