Today in the rest of the country realizing how awesome we are, Time magazine named Missouri the best state for drinking. The worst? Utah (duh).

The honor was not bestowed upon our humble state for our famous brewery, but rather our drinking laws. At first we were surprised (still smarting over that "minor in possession through consumption" ticket). But of course, Missouri has no laws against open containers. How else are we supposed to have picnics at Forest Park?
Plus, the only places you can get arrested for public intoxication are schools, churches and courthouses. The kicker is that it's actually illegal for towns to pass laws that require arrest for being drunk in public.
We beat out Nevada, which comes in at No. 2, and Wisconsin. Massachusetts and Pennsylvania round out the worst.
There are lots of reasons to love drinking in St. Louis, let alone the whole state. Cheers, Time.
