Super "Bowl" Sunday: The Gut Check Guide to Curing the Munchies
Two words: The Dam. | Jennifer Silverberg
The Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos face off this Sunday in the Super Bowl and in case you haven't noticed, both of those states got real friendly with an entirely different kind of "bowl" recently. In celebration of both states' recent legalization of marijuana, many will be marking game day by getting incredibly, unreasonably high. And we know -- too well -- what that means: Everyone is going to get real, real hungry.
We've got you covered. Whether you're staying home, going out, are forced to contribute a food item to a party you don't even want to go to, or want something delivered, we have the perfect guide for your post-Super Bowl munchies.
Now if you're planning to combine the eating and the getting high, there are plenty of recipes to use with good ol' Mary Jane. Our own Zach Garrison has a tested-and-perfected recipe for "butter boosting," a.k.a. a cannabis-laced butter that you can use in any number of recipes, including mashed potatoes and popcorn. You can find all of his recipe suggestions here. Here's the formula for butter boosting:
1. Using a coffee or spice mill, pulverize one-half ounce of plant matter.
2. Into a medium saucepan, pour three-quarters of a cup of water and bring to a boil.
3. Melt half a cup of butter into the boiling water, add the ground grass, cover and simmer over low heat for 35 minutes.
4. Filter the contents of the saucepan through a cheesecloth or sieve into a container, cover and refrigerate overnight.
Next: Going out?
