The Mexican fish fry at St. Cecilia. | Rease Kirchner

Instead of our usual round of overrated/underrated, we decided to ask our lovely readers to nominate the best fish fry in St. Louis. Thanks to our Catholic heritage, there is no shortage of Lenten fish fries in the city, across the river, in the county and beyond.

Do you prefer your fish with a Mexican flair at St. Cecilia? How about a Serbian feast at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church. Maybe you need your Friday fish to-go and frequent the drive-through cod at St. Mary Magdalen. Or perhaps it's a fish fry we haven't even heard of. Let us know in the comments, and we'll take it to a vote next week.

Gut Check is always hungry for tips and feedback. E-mail the author at nancy.stiles@riverfronttimes.com or follow her on Twitter.

The American Legion Thoman-Booth Post 338 has the best cod! Their tartar sauce and coleslaw is just icing on the cake.

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta has the best! They also have a drive-thru. I prefer to get fish & fries and take home and throw back in the oven at 350 for about 10 minutes - it tastes perfect!
